The Story

Carrick Macross, LLC is the creative vision of its founder, Tim Jones. Tim still cuts and sews prototypes by hand and with industrial machines in his home studio and a large shared space. He acts as the design houses' CDO (Chief Design Officer).

He oversees every aspect of the product from drawing, design, materials selection, prototype, and packaging. He even writes and designs the beautiful advertisments you love!

Carrickmacross, Ireland is the ancestral home on Tims fathers side.

His mother is of Irish,Scottish and Native American descent. Tims Great-Grandparents came from Ireland and he has been much closer to his Irish heritage than his mothers family.

The origin of the brand and the designs go back to when his grandfather was pulled from a coal mine and was told it was time to go fight. It was World War II.

Without hesitation, he gathered his things along with other men from the town who were of Irish, Polish, German, and central European decent and prepared to leave. Before he did he told his wife (Tims Grandmother) "Take the kids to Detroit. There are good paying jobs and there are Irish folk there in a place called Corktown."

Tims parents grew up there, met and married.

Like all great brand marks, our logo tells this amazing story: The map of Ireland, two crossed oars representing the trip to America and the wheel for Detroit, our home.

We opted to use the Caledonia (Scotland) Tartan as our standard interior lining for its beauty, flexibility with the variety of our designs and commitment to our Irish and U.K. heritage.

2003 was the year Tim started making these pieces by hand.

All his Grandparents had for the trip to America was the clothes on their back and the bags and cases to carry their most precious belongings. Those bags lasted for decades. So do ours.

Tim and crew work hard for you during the week. On the weekend the boss can be found hanging out in Corktown and is often found in Chicago. While at home Tim is listening to Ann Delisi and fellow DJs on WDET or finding hisself at some great cultural event. It doesnt surprise anyone when he does both!
